I’m not much for trends, BUT these ones, you will see them again and again in shops.
Here my 7 picks for A/W 2022.
Let’s start with KNITWEAR:
I have seen so many brands displaying their knitwear….there’s for everyone.
Knitwear might make you think of that thick big Christmas jumper…but knitwear can also be elegant and less, let’s say, bulky.
Who’s knitwear for? All body shapes.
For those who are wider on the top part, i.e. bigger bust, rounder waist I would suggest lightweight knitwear, open/v neck and length preferably above the hips. If you decide to go for a long cardigan, well it’ long but just keep the knitwear light.
Remember that knitwear can still be tucked in 😉
LEATHER:
Lots of leather this coming season. Your choice if you are into real leather or faux leather.
Jackets are ON! Moto style, bomber style but also oversize ones. There’s a return to Y2K (Year 2000) this season which reminds the end of the Nineties and early 2000. If you like leather, second hand/vintage is the way to go!!
I always say to my clients, a leather jacket is a wardrobe staple. I have one and it’s now turned vintage! (I had it for just about 22 years).
But it’s not only about jacket, it’s also about skirts, trousers, tops, bags…And not only black 😊.
CHUNKY BOOTS:
Oh yes, great for comfort and winter weather.
There is a lot out there, from ankle boots to high boots. Shiny, swede, black, green, you name it.
Flat, platform, chunky heel, there’s for everyone. Choose based on your use and what you will pair them with. Boots these days go well with dresses and skirt if you want to give them a more casual look.
OVERSIZED…EVERYTHING:
Right, oversize….it’s a trend, I don’t mind it, there are oversized garments that I like more than others and I recommend it to everyone however I also say wear what you like and there are times when that garment might not be the best for our body shape but there’s a way to make it work too!
If you are reading this and you have worked with me you’ve heard this more than once! Baggy, generally doesn’t do a favour to anyone. Let’s say that oversize isn’t necessarely baggy 😉. Hence if you like it you go for an oversized shirt which is normally worn open so it has a layering function too. And underneath you can wear a tank top.
If you are thinking oversized is going to be good so you can hide behind, I’d say no! 😊
But it’s definitely a trend if you like it make it yours according to what’s best for your body shape.
FUSCHIA PINK:
Have you noticed more pink in the shops by any chance? It’s one of the colours of A/W 2022.
It’s not for everyone for sure and not only because of taste but also it might not be right for your complexion. If it’s not in your colour palette but you love it, don’t despair. Go for something that you would wear away from your face. Hence go for pink trousers, skirt, a bag, a pair of shoes or a belt.
TANK TOP:
I know that we are going toward the cold season and it seems odd, it does to me at least!
However great to wear under a blazer now while it’s not too cold. Still perfect in winter while inside in a warm place.
Used with jean they will definitely have a casual look, but try them with tailored trousers and a belt, it gives a more smart look without being too much. Tank top and palazzo trousers also perfect. But they go with skirts too!
DOUBLE DENIM:
I know double denim can be daunting but listen it’s yet another trend. If someone else does it so can you! If it’s a trend you like obviously. Never do a trend if it’s not you, style isn’t following trends, that is fashion. Style is making trends yours!
Me? I am all for double denim (or triple like in the photo below), but you’ve seen me doing a denim on denim look more than once so you know it already.
